We’ve compiled a list of gear essentials necessary for any day trip this Spring Break.

Camelbak Alpine Explorer Hydration Pack

If you’re looking for a to-go bag for any day hike, this is a good option at about $87. It has three main compartments that comfortably fit everything you need. There is room for all of your essentials, including a first-aid kit, rain jacket, compass, maps, and snacks. The design includes a rugged nylon with exterior webbing for additional water bottles and expandable sides for any size trip. To top it off, the pack has shoulder straps and a waist belt to help you manage the weight.

Patagonia Torrentshell Rain Jacket

This jacket is a must-have for any adventurer. At just 12.5 ounces, the Patagonia rain jacket is easy to pack and will save you if the weather takes a turn for the worse. The Torrentshell includes a fleece-lined neck, hand-warmer pockets, and high quality ripstop nylon with stormflaps on all the zippers. The price runs between $90 and $130.

Black Diamond Storm Headlamp

I’ve gone through five or six different headlamps because, for some reason, I always lose them. But the Black Diamond Storm headlamp was the best purchase I ever made. For just $50 you can’t go wrong. It’s bright, long-lasting, and comfortable. The lamp also has different light settings to keep you from blinding your trail buddy. It takes standard AAA batteries and works like a champ.

Clif Bars

The true and tested Clif Bar is a must for any trip — no matter how long you’re going out. Packed with calories and armed with an arsenal of healthy ingredients, it will give your tastebuds a run for their money with more than a dozen flavors. Get that extra boost of energy to push to the top or enjoy a nice snack on your hike because this granola bar won’t let you down.
