Here’s What You Can do in Salt Lake City

Heres What You Can do in Salt Lake City

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Welcome to Salt Lake City, where the price is right and the possibilities are endless! Not sure what you can do to occupy your time? No problem. Check out this list of exciting activities you can do during your time in Salt Lake.

ON CAMPUS

On the U’s campus, you can find plenty of activities to keep yourself busy while getting situated to college life.

Find the simple things on campus. You can go bowling in the Union or play pool in the Heritage Center. Working out at the Student Life Center is an easy fix, and participating in intramural sports is just one sign-up away. Sometimes, it’s the simple things that become the most fun.

Get to know your university. While you are at the university, you may want to take a few days and explore campus. There are many stunning buildings like the Spencer Fox Eccles Business Building or the J. Willard Marriott Library that are perfect for exploration. While you’re touring, consider taking a quick trip up to see the block U in the foothills above campus — just don’t forget to throw up your “U” as you snap a pic.

Cheer on your Utes. Put on your red gear and head over to the Rice Eccles Stadium to root for your favorite football team. As fall semester begins, Utah football becomes a major sports attraction. In that case, sign up for the MUSS (Mighty Utah Student Section), grab some friends and take part in the true college athletic experience.

Don’t forget to check for when other athletic events take place throughout the year.

OFF CAMPUS

Take a break from campus and experience the world off campus.

Go shopping. Downtown Salt Lake is equipped with promising stores supplying the latest fashions. Not only does it have one mall, but it has two decorated, authentic shopping centers. Not a mainstream shopper? No problem. Local boutiques can be found downtown and in the Sugarhouse area.

Explore the great outdoors. While you’re living in Utah, take advantage of your location and check out some sweet sites. If you’re a hiker, you can find plenty of trails to keep your weekends occupied. From the Living Room to Ensign’s Peak, you can catch plenty of great views of the beautiful Utah Valley.

As the temperature drops and the ground covers in frozen precipitation, you’ll know it’s skiing and snowboarding time. So head up to Alta and show off your winter sport skills.

You can also stay ground level, and explore the historic city. Park your car somewhere or take Trax and just start walking around downtown. Chances are you’ll find something like a hidden building or extravagant street art to introduce you to Salt Lake City.

Engage in the music scene. Concerts are happening all over the place in Salt Lake City. Whether it be well-known artists at Energy Solutions Arena, the Twilight Concert Series at Pioneer Park or local bands at smaller venues and clubs, you’ll always have a choice to find the best music.

Relax and find peace. If you need to get away from the rumble and tumble of city life, check out Liberty Park or Sugarhouse Park. Both parks provide luscious green grass and wide open areas. Bring a book and read under a tree or bring some friends and throw around a Frisbee. Come back at night and turn the park into a site for night games. There’s no cost and it’s a perfect warm, relaxing atmosphere for you to enjoy.

Enjoy your basic, go-to activities. Along with all the other Utah-only activities, Salt Lake also has your city life necessities. Enjoy a new movie at the Megaplex at Gateway or check out a book at the Salt Lake City Public Library. Both activities are simple, yet pleasing weekend activities.

The nicest thing about living in a city is this: if you can think it, odds are you can do it. Take some time and explore the excitement Salt Lake City has to offer. Who knows? You may even find something new.
