Pop Culture Round-Up: Starbucks, SNL and Star Wars

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show took place this week. The show featured newcomers Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, because why have a bunch of nobody supermodels when you can have a member of the Kardashian clan and her best friend?

People are freaking out over Starbucks’ red cups. The red cups feature a more minimalistic design this year, noticeably lacking the signature snowflakes and elves usually featured on the cup. While some like the cleaner design, others are claiming that Starbucks hates Christmas.

The first trailer for “Finding Dory” has premiered. The movie is a sequel to the classic “Finding Nemo.” There’s not much to say about it, other than it’s a sequel to a beloved Pixar movie, so just go ahead and watch the trailer.

Speaking of Disney sequels, yet another Star Wars trailer has been released. The trailer features a longer look at some of the characters and teases possible relationships between them. Noticeably absent from this trailer and all promotional materials is Luke Skywalker, except for a glimpse of his prosthetic hand. This is no accident. Director J.J. Abrams has stated there is a very deliberate reason he won’t appear in any trailers or pictures.

Donald Trump hosted Saturday Night Live last Saturday, much to the dismay of everyone petitioning for SNL to drop him as a host. However, what those people don’t realize is they’re part of the reason he was asked to host in the first place. Controversy leads to views, and Trump is one of the most controversial people around. Coincidentally, the episode he hosted gave SNL the highest number of viewers it has had since 2012.
