Dorms Prep Salt and Snow Plows for Winter Conditions

Dorms+Prep+Salt+and+Snow+Plows+for+Winter+Conditions

Winter is fast approaching and with it comes slippery roads and icy sidewalks.

Housing and Residential Education is preparing for the season. An email was sent to students living at the dorms telling them to keep bikes and cars off sidewalks for snow removal.

The email read, “Please be sure to park and lock your bikes in the designated racks only, please do not chain them up to benches or guard rails.”

Additionally, students with cars were told to not block sidewalks.

Juan Oregel, a junior in communication, works at the Peterson Heritage Center and has been at the dorms for two winters.

“The school does a pretty good job,” Oregel said.

Oregel said that over the weekends snow plows work “24/7” to clear the snow, and ensure the sidewalks are salted. For Oregel, the only problem was when it rained or the snow melted and refroze to create black ice.

Sara Smith, a sophomore in exercise and sports science, said the few times it did snow last year, it was cleared quickly, which helped when she had early classes.
