Audiovisual updates aren’t just for fans watching football on TV.

Preparations for the upcoming U football season include an overhaul of the Rice-Eccles Stadium A.V. system, which is like “two projects that are somewhat connected,” said Facilities Management spokesperson Shireen Ghorbani.

Planned updates include tearing out the existing scoreboard to replace it with a much larger video board and installing a distributed sound system to contain noise within the stadium.

“It’s really going to be an improved experience, both in terms of video and sound quality,” Ghorbani said.

Several stalls of the Rice-Eccles parking in Lot 1 are closed to store construction equipment and supplies. Impacts to student parking should be minimal, Ghorbani said. The project will likely be completed by the opening game of Fall 2016.
