RHA Prepares to Elect New President, Encourages Residents to Participate

The Residence Hall Association (RHA) are holding elections for their next president on Friday, Feb. 25.

RHA is a student organization responsible for organizing activities for the various residence halls. Such events include hiking to the U, viewing parties and other group activities.

Sharon Pham, a freshman in nursing, said RHA is a good way to get to know other people on campus if you’re new to the U.

“The events they host are fun and most of the time have free food, so there’s a bonus I hope never changes,” Pham said.

There is only one candidate running for RHA president, and she doesn’t have plans to change the free food. Courtney Savage has been involved with RHA for four years now and has served on many boards. Savage plans to create leadership in each area of housing and new ways to advocate for residents.

Residents are not required to vote but are encouraged. Whoever is elected will represent residents of the U, as well as the university on national levels.

Residents received an email with directions on how to vote earlier this week. Submissions should be turned in by 10 p.m. Friday night.
