Forget ‘FOMO’, Experiment With Eventbrite

Forget+FOMO%2C+Experiment+With+Eventbrite

Do you find yourself constantly looking for things to do when you’re with your friends, on a school break or for the future? Are you ever lost trying to find out what’s going on around you, not knowing where to find the most useful information? Luckily, there are apps you can download on your phone to keep you updated. Here’s one in particular: Eventbrite.

Eventbrite does everything above, helping you find nearby events wherever you are; you can use it both when you are near home and when you are abroad. It comes in handy particularly when you want to find something to do if you have a short break from school or a weekend off and want to give yourself some fun plans.

User-friendly, Eventbrite’s layout is simplified, following a minimalist theme. Enter your email and create a password to sign up; this way you will have a profile created that keeps your information for future reference such as what events you’ve saved, tickets you have purchased and a list of your interests. Then, once you have that filled out, you are asked to start listing your interests by clicking on the list the app provides you from music, arts, and film and media to fashion, hobbies, and travel and outdoors. Click on any that apply to what events you may want to find out about.

This is just the beginning.

Once within the main part of the app, you will see how you can change the location settings at the top of the screen to focus your search on certain places. There are also three simple tabs at the bottom of the app that direct you to discover events, search through events and edit your profile. Within the ‘Discover’ section, you can scroll down through the events recommended to you, or, if you swipe towards the left, the navigator shows other options to browse through which include ‘Popular’, ‘This Weekend’, ‘Friends’ and ‘What’s Nearby’.

The nice thing about the app’s friends feature is that you can connect with your friends on Facebook to see what they may be attending. This is a great way to prevent yourself from FOMO — fear of missing out — if that’s what you want to avoid. Otherwise, find events that you really want to go to and attend them, even if that means going alone.

Tap on any of the events listed on the app to get more information and buy tickets, which will then save on the app under your profile. On the top right-hand corner, you can bookmark the event where it also will save in your profile or send the event to one of your social media platforms to share with your friends.

Eventbrite is a great way to stay updated on what’s going on around you without having to browse the internet or look through all of your social media accounts.

There are a few other apps you may want to check out with the same idea, including Foursquare, Nudge or Gravy. Go with an app that best fits your preferences and have fun at the events you attend.

Visit the app at Eventbrite.com.
