Letter to the Editor

By Trevor Eldredge

Editor:

I’ve tried to deal with the poorly planned parking for four years of undergraduate studies. I started the master’s program this summer, only to find that the parking department is living up to its ludicrous reputation by reducing the amount of parking spaces in the business lot directly west of the Huntsman Center. I have to wonder to myself, what kind of fool is running this show?

Who came up with the grand idea of reducing the already minute number of University of Utah parking spaces in that lot? This lot is one of the most used by students with U passes, and prior to this ridiculous adjustment, there were already waiting lines up each aisle that had at least five or six cars at each end at all times of the day.

Give me a break! In the mornings, I have to fight the same number of students for half as many parking spaces.

Now tell me, how does that improve the situation? Who uses that lot the most? The students. Who pays for parking stickers, tuition and fees? The students. And who is getting the worst out of this deal? The students!

My suggestion for the people who are making these decisions is to enroll at this university and try to learn something, because obviously they don’t have any sort of education right now.
