Favorite Nurse Honors Available

By Fred Thaller

It’s that time of year again. You get the chance to nominate your favorite nurse for special recognition at the Seventh Annual Honors for Nursing Recognition and Reception scheduled for May 1, 2002.

This program was established by members of the Faculty and Alumni Association of the U College of Nursing, to honor nurses, nurse educators and those who support the nursing profession throughout the community.

This year’s program will feature emcee Mary Nickles from Channel 2 News.Utah Sen. Karen Hale will receive the Honors for Nursing “Dare to Care” award for her support of health care in Utah.

“She has been doing an outstanding job for our community since the tragic death of her daughter two years ago.” said Sandra Taylor, spokeswoman in the College of Nursing.

A certificate will be awarded to each person honored in return for a tax-deductible $10 contribution to the College of Nursing Alumni Scholarship Fund.

Nomination forms are available in the College of Nursing Development Office at 581-5109.

Honors for Nursing is underwritten by the U Health Sciences Center.
