The Chronicle’s View: Fans need to keep supporting football

By [email protected]

To Whom it May Concern: I’m responding to the article that was in Monday’s edition of the Chronicle that discussed why there were so many fans at last week’s football game and how great that was to see the stands packed. You are right that it was great to see how many fans showed up to the game given the fact that it started at 5:00 p.m. on a Thursday evening. But you are mistaken. Urban Meyer is doing great new things with the football team, but he is not the reason that the stands were packed. The real reason is that thousands of tickets were given away to 17 high schools in the valley and many Hogi Yogi restaurants as well. That is the reason why the stands were packed. If you were given a free ticket wouldn’t you go? I’m just trying to give credit where credit is due: to the many thousands of high school students and Hogi Yogi customers around the valley. They’re the reason for the 46,768 fans packed into Rice-Eccles stadium.
