Letter to the Editor: Communist threat is alive and well

Editor:

I would like to respond to Jeff Fullmer’s article titled, “Give Marx a break” (Oct. 13).

As a former member of the United States Air Force and a former member of the John Birch Society, as well as a current member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I find it amazing how little is understood about the Communist conspiracy.

I was amazed when I went to basic training in 1989 and was taught out of Cleon Skousen’s book, The Naked Communist.

For instance, did you know that some of the Communist goals include making homosexuality and promiscuity appear “normal, healthy and natural?”

Why would the Communists want that for society? I will let you ponder the answer to that question or even better, you can check out the John Birch Society Web site at www.jbs.org.

Another Communist goal we were taught in basic training refers to their desire for peace to be solely possible through the United Nations.

In the back of the book The Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson, he outlines why the United Nations is a bad idea. There is so much to learn about Communism and all the members of the LDS Church, as well as others, should “awake to a sense of your awful situation” referring to the Communist conspiracy.

Don’t think for a minute that it is over, and if you don’t believe me, try living as a citizen of Red China, Cuba or North Korea.

The back of Ezra Taft Benson said, “I wish every citizen of every free country could read this book, and also every slave behind the Iron Curtain.” It is true that Communism has fallen in many parts of the world, but that does not mean those who built it up have stopped seeking more power.
