Letter to the Editor: Opposition to Moore was hypocritical

Editor:

It can be argued, very well in fact, that Moore tries to pass lies as truth and arranges his material such that his viewers are lead to assume things that aren’t true. If anything, that makes him an entertainer more than a documentary filmmaker.

However, this did not change the right-wing response to his arrival.

Instead of allowing Moore to exercise his First Amendment right of free speech, as would be the American thing to do, they moved to silence him.

The conservative Legislature threatened to rescind funding from the college and citizens threatened to file lawsuits.

Are they threatened by what he has to say? Of course, but because you disagree with somebody’s point of view does not mean that you should coerce his or her vendor into submission.
