Letter to the Editor: Molly Mormons give blood and don’t blush

Editor:

I am responding to RuthAnne Frost’s column (“Sex, blood and the drama of lifesaving,” Jan. 19). I don’t see how anybody could agree with Ogborn’s argument. Ogborn’s stance on necessary and normal questions is completely ridiculous.

However, I disagree with Frost’s linking Ogborn’s views to her religion.

Stereotyping any group based on a single and extreme member of that group is simply foolish. That is like linking the peaceful and beautiful religion of Islam to al-Qaida. The LDS church encourages its members to give blood. Period. A “Molly Mormon” would give blood often. It is unfair to insult other members of her faith because of one extreme member.
