Why So Negative?

By [email protected]

The last couple weeks I have tried very hard to read the Chronicle every day and to keep up with the election coverage. And all I have to say is why is everyone so negative? It seems that almost every article you have printed, whether it be on the front page or the opinion section, has some type of negative spin to it. I don’t understand why everyone gets so crabby during election time. We need to all remember that this is politics. Of course candidates are going to promise things that may or may not ever come to pass. But at least they are informed and have some kind of idea as to how they would like to see the university change. I would love it if everyone would stop complaining about the posters, flyers, stickers, and T-shirts that are taking over campus. So what if someone offers you a bagel or a sticker on your way to class. These candidates are taking time out of their busy lives to try and get you to vote and to get you involved. So you can’t blame them for that. The truth is it takes a lot of time, money, effort, and courage to run for office at the ‘U’. And the fact that so many people keep criticizing the candidates shows a lack of pride in our university. So turn all that negative energy around and inform yourself of what the candidates really have to say. You may actually find that you are interested in some of their platform issues. And that could lead to you actually vote! Imagine that!!!
