I know you may be sick of hearing from me but I couldn’t resist writing this letter. I am appalled at the lack of professionlism The Chronicle is showing by endorsing Students First. Obviously you forgot that the first rule of journalism is to stay objective and to not let your opinion show. In politics especially journalists can’t let their views and opinions shine through. The fact that The Chronicle came right out and said which party they are supporting really diminishes your credibility as a newspaper and you should be ashamed. You state in your article (Student’s First is the Best Choice) all the reasons you support Students First, but you failed to mention that all the editors at The Chronicle probably have personal reasons for supporting Ali Hasnain. He was an editor for The Chronicle, so I’m sure he has friends on the staff. I understand that an opinion page is a place for anyone to say what they want. But you came right out and said that The Chronicle as a whole is endorsing Students First. You are stating the feelings of the entire newspaper, so even though you may try to justify it by putting it on the opinion page, it is still unprofessional. I have lost a lot of respect for The Chronicle because of your blatant support of a certain political party. Your first job as a newspaper is to report the news and the facts, and you have failed miserably at this. Instead you used the newspaper as your own personal forum to support a friend. It isn’t right and shame on you for doing so!
