Andrew Bogut’s pet kangaroo may be fictitious, but the awards the sophomore center continues to pile up are definitely real.
On Tuesday Bogut was named to the Associated Press’ All-America Team after garnering the most votes of any player in the country.
Wake Forest’s Chris Paul, Duke’s J.J. Redick, Syracuse’s Hakim Warrick and Kansas’ Wayne Simien join Bogut on the team.
The Aussie received 60 first team votes and 330 points overall.
Redick was second with 53 first team votes.
Bogut was the only member of the team not to be given at least an honorable mention in the pre-season voting, but after averaging 20.4 points per game and 12.4 rebounds, he could not be ignored any longer.
He is the first Ute A.P. All-American since current Denver Nugget Andre Miller accomplished the feat in 1999.
Also on Tuesday, Bogut was named the Basketball Times Player of the Year.
Bogut and the Utes will face the Kentucky Wildcats in the Sweet Sixteen Friday in Austin.
