Your editorial by Edward Stevenson (“The Dukes of Hazard had the right idea,” March 30) makes an interesting argument.
Though if the idea were carried out to a logical conclusion, it might bring an unwanted result. I agree that cops pulling over drivers for speeding is a dangerous distraction, but for whatever reason (safety or revenue), the process of traffic law enforcement will not go away. Just the threat of a ticket keeps a lot of people within reasonable speeds.
In order to carry out enforcement without cops pulling over drivers, the method already used elsewhere in the world is photocop. Do you really want that?
