Oh say can you sing?

Producers of Freedom Blast, an Independence Day celebration held at Rice-Eccles Stadium on July 2, are looking for someone to sing or perform the National Anthem.

The Independence Day program, featuring Kelly Clarkson as headliner, will have a patriotic focus with the Salt Lake Scots bagpipers, a military color guard and flyover, Pyro Spectacular, the Olympics fireworks team, and other holiday components.

“Our show will focus on patriotism and the celebration of our freedoms,” John Whittaker, Freedom Blast producer, said. “The performer of the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ is a key element to our program.”

Organizers will accept preliminary tape submissions until April 29, and hold live auditions on May 7.

Competition tapes should be mailed to “Solarium,” 702 South Alpine Hwy. Alpine, UT 84004. Questions regarding the audition process can be directed to Dan Carlisle, [email protected].

Vocalists, instrumentals, soloists and ensembles will be considered.

Announcement of the audition results will be May 9, via e-mail and media notification.
