Editor:
In response to Monday’s column (“Who despises his or her academic advisers?” April 18):
These departmental advisers are meant to help, yet so far they have been a huge waste of my time.
I am studying to teach a subject and the department for that subject and the Learning Center know nothing about the other.
The subject’s department adviser has been rude to me every time I talk to her and she offered me no advice whatsoever on anything.
I go there for help and advising and all I get is a blank stare and an occasional nod.
Are those qualifications for the job or something? I thought I was alone on this. Thanks for your article, Carrie Ferrera.
