SLC Jazz Festival brings musicians to U campus

By Danyelle White

The U’s Libby Gardner Hall hosts a series of free jazz clinics for musicians and vocalists today and Saturday as part of the Salt Lake City International Jazz Festival.

Among the clinics’ featured guests are vocalist Faye Muntz, trumpet artist Freddie Hubbard, composer Patrick Williams, trombonist Ira Nepus and former “Tonight Show” trumpeter Chuck Findley.

After kicking off the event Wednesday evening at Abravanel Hall, the festival continues tonight, Saturday and Sunday nights at Washington Square across from the City Library, Little America Hotel and Grand America Hotel.

Free tickets for the concerts are available at the gate, Zions Bank locations, Qwest Phone Store locations and Salt Lake City Credit Unions.

Artists’ bios, concert schedules and more information can be viewed at www.slcjazzfest.com.
