Social Work workshop features Oscar-winning director

Geralyn Dreyfous, executive and creative director of the Acadamy Award-winning documentary “Born Into Brothels,” gave the keynote address for the College of Social Work’s Fall Faculty Development Workshop.

The event was held Nov. 14 to observe International Human Rights Day.

The theme of the day was “Global Social Work: Dialogue on Intercultural Practice.” Attendees went to various workshops on international social work and diversity issues in schools.

Dreyfous’ participation made the event a huge success, said Carlyn Weight, the director of development and operations for the college.

After the workshops, there was a lunch and networking with colleagues, and then a showing of the documentary “Born Into Brothels,” followed by a discussion.
