Cal Ripken Jr. to speak

at fund-raiser

The U baseball team is presenting “An Evening with Cal Ripken Jr.” on Jan. 16 at the Sheraton City Centre Hotel. Ripken will be the keynote speaker for the event.

The evening starts with a 6 p.m. reception, followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Ripken will take the stage following the meal. Tickets are $100 per person, and tables of 10 cost $1,000.

Tickets may be purchased by calling Utah Athletics at 581-6445.

Sommerfeldt and Salvo receive recognition

Senior Shelly Sommerfeldt and freshman Airial Salvo received all-region honors on Wednesday. Sommerfeldt was named to the AVCA all-West Region team, while Salvo earned region freshman of the year and honorable mention all-region.

WaterUtes continue to pile up awards

U swimming and diving swept the weekly MWC awards, winning in all four disciplines. Jonathan Larsen and Amber Walter earned men’s and women’s swimmers-of-the-week awards, while Sterling Richards and Kelsey Patterson received divers-of-the-week awards.
