More than 200 students from 20 different countries and ethnic student clubs will participate in this year’s International Week.
Sponsored by the International Student Center, i-Week will feature a different continent every day, giving students a chance to view the campus from a global perspective.
Various performances, foreign films, information displays and workshops are scheduled to spotlight 15 different countries’ backgrounds and cultures.
“i-Week is a huge step toward getting international students’ presence felt on campus,” Elizabeth Adoyo, senior in International Studies, said. “It’s also an easy way for all students to participate in different cultural experiences.”
U students will be able to take part in varied cultural activities ranging from a Modern Ao Dai fashion show on Asia Day to a dance performance on Latin America Day.
The most carefully planned event is Friday’s International Tea Rooms, at which students can sample teas and sweets from all over the world, said Anjali Hammond, International Program coordinator.
“Any student is welcome to come and have a taste of real ethnic teas and pastries,” Hammond said.
i-Week will close this Friday night with “Step Outside Your World,” a mix of International Night and Crimson Nights.
