Laboratory Professionals Week honors lab scientists

The U’s department of pathology is celebrating the 31st National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week with an open house Monday to “educate the public and students about our excellent program,” said Michelle Stewart, assistant professor of pathology and program coordinator.

National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week recognizes the scientific and technical contributions lab professionals make to the medical profession each year.

Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. signed a proclamation on April 12 declaring April 23 to 29 of 2006 “Medical Laboratory Week” in Utah.

The open house will include information and question-and-answer sessions, as well as opportunities to speak with faculty members and students involved in the pathology program.

The event will be held at the Aline Wilmot Skaggs Biology Research Building from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
