Every seat MUSS go

By Alyssa Farley

One month until kickoff and members of the Mighty Utah Student Section already have their tickets.

The MUSS is a student group that, for a $25 fee, gives privileges to members at sporting events, including a preferred reserved seat in the student section, a T-shirt, an invitation to pre-game catered tailgates, an invitation to an alumni tailgate at Homecoming, a chance to win sideline passes at a football game and special tickets to road games.

John Fackler, director of the MUSS, said football coach Kyle Whittingham has said that the MUSS is the reason the team beats BYU.

The MUSS is intended to encourage student support for the U’s athletic programs, and in so doing, creates a sense of unity and school pride, Fackler said.

The term “MUSS” was originally taken from the U’s school song “Utah Man” and was never intended to be an acronym.

Any student can join the MUSS online at www.alumni.utah.edu/muss. Better seating is given to those who sign up early.
