Police Report: Theft, abuse and psychic drunks

Sign of the drunken times

Oct. 1

An officer was dispatched to a “man down” call on the sidewalk south of the police station. The officer found a man lying on the sidewalk. When the officer asked the man what he was doing, the man answered that he was making a sign. The officer then asked the man what the sign said, but the man answered that the sign had disappeared when the officer arrived. The man was too intoxicated to be released on his own, so he was taken to jail when detox refused to receive him.

Red flag

Oct. 3

Two U flags were stolen from the Environmental Health and Safety Building.

Push and shove

Oct. 5

A security person at the U vs. TCU football game told a man he had to leave the game because of his unruly behavior. The man got up, walked a short distance and then returned to shove the security person from behind. The man was arrested for disorderly conduct with the added charge of illegal alcohol consumption.

It takes two

Oct. 5

Two security people were escorting a man out of the TCU football game when the man being escorted threw something at one of the security people and then tried to walk away. A police officer who witnessed the incident took the man into custody with the help of security. The police officer cited the man for disorderly conduct.

Fool me once

Oct. 9

A computer system was stolen from the James Talmage Building.

Fool me again

Oct. 10

A second computer system was stolen from the James Talmage Building.

Crash and burn

Oct. 11

A bike was stolen from the west side of the Marriott Library. One day later, police responded to a report that a bicyclist had crashed and needed medical attention. The police found the bicyclist had been riding the stolen bike. The bicyclist went to the hospital for treatment. Charges are pending.

Kicking and screaming

Oct. 16

A female visitor to the University Neuropsychiatric Clinic got into an argument with staff members at the clinic that escalated to the point that the woman was taken to the floor and restrained. The woman reported that one staff member fondled her breast while she was restrained.

A mother’s touch

Oct. 19

A woman reported that her estranged husband pushed her to the ground during a disagreement over which parent their children were going to spend the night with. The husband reported that his estranged wife struck him twice in the neck. The case is still under investigation.
