Police Report: Smoking. Drunks. Sex.

Sex in the ParkA U police officer responded to a report of suspicious activity in a van parked in Research Park around 3:15 p.m. When the officer arrived, he saw a man and a woman engaged in sexual intercourse. The officer interrupted and advised both parties that the matter was being forwarded to the city prosecutor for lewdness charges.

Briefly missingA car parked in the lot near the U Neuropsychiatry Clinic was burglarized. The thief broke a window in the car to get in and steal a briefcase. Minutes later, a citizen noticed a man get out of his car and toss a briefcase into a dumpster near the Red Butte Arboretum. The witness called the police who retrieved the briefcase from the dumpster. The retrieving officer took the briefcase to the clinic where the victim of the vehicle burglary identified the briefcase as his property.

Theft in Kingsbury Hall: Day one.A wallet was stolen from a bag left in a men’s dressing room in Kingsbury Hall.

Day twoA video iPod was stolen from a bag left in a men’s dressing room in Kingsbury Hall.

Day threeA wallet was stolen from a bag that had been placed under a seat in the auditorium of Kingsbury Hall.

Missing soundA resident of student housing reported that someone had stolen his amplifier that he left in a cupboard in the common area of his apartment building.

Drive and releaseA man reported that his car had been stolen from the lot east of the Merrill Engineering Building. He reported back a few hours later that the car had been returned, but to a different place in the same lot.

Replace the plateA woman reported someone had stolen the front license plate from her car while it was parked in the Merrill Engineering Building lot, adding that another plate had been put in its place. A record check on the new plate showed that it had been stolen out of West Valley City.

Replace the plate: part two.A man reported someone had stolen the rear license plate off his car while it was parked in the Merrill Engineering Building lot and put another plate in its place. The responding officer ran the new plate and found that it was stolen out of West Valley City.

No thank you for smokingPolice were called to deal with a man who refused to leave the Union Building while smoking. The police arrested the man and took him to jail for intoxication because the detox center refused to accept him.

Out the loo A woman was using a bathroom stall and put her backpack just outside the stall with a pencil case on top of the backpack. When the woman was done, she discovered her pencil case was gone. She had a debit card, Student ID card and bus pass in the case, as well as other property.

Drinking on the sideU Police were called to a traffic accident on 100 S. near the Naval Science Building where a car was flipped on its side. The driver was located and found to be intoxicated. He was arrested for a DUI.
