Battle of the bands decides Kerfuffle opener

By Michael McFall

Local band Good Morning Maxfield will play at ASUU’s Grand Kerfuffle, the U’s annual music festival, in April.

The decision was announced after the Battle of the Bands concert held last Friday night in the Union Ballroom, which featured four local bands and MxPx. After hearing Larusso, Patter Stats, Melodramus and Good Morning Maxfield perform, students voted for their favorite.

The winner was announced after MxPx finished their set, which was the last of the night.

The four bands that competed Friday night were selected from seven bands that performed at a previous Battle of the Bands concert.

The event was organized by the Associated Students of the University of Utah as a way for students to choose who they want to see open at the Grand Kerfuffle.

“The students really seemed happy with the decision,” said Amanda Mecham, director of ASUU’s Presenter’s Office.

The decision was also based on judges’ votes. Their choice for the winner matched the students’, Mecham said.
