The Pulse

By Trevor Hale, Red Pulse Editor

There’s been a lot of talk during the past year about bringing a Broadway-style theater to downtown Salt Lake City, and that’s not a bad idea. The film industry has been flourishing during the past couple of months because more and more people are going to the movies. Even though the nation is in a tough spot financially, people still want to be entertained.

But before everyone gets all crazy about a new theater that won’t be ready to go for at least another year, take a look around and see what’s going on in the theater community right outside your door.

There are a lot of local theaters putting on high-quality shows this spring, and it’s time more people started taking advantage of this opportunity. Salt Lake Acting Company, The Babcock Theatre, Plan-B Theatre Company8212;all these productions have great things going on, so make sure you keep an eye out for them. You might not be able to leave in the middle to grab popcorn and it’s definitely not acceptable to answer your phone in the middle of a performance, but it is a great experience. So pick up a couple of tickets and catch a show. Tell them you’re a student too, because there are usually discounts. And who doesn’t love discounts?
