Expanding the general itinerary beyond an outdoor concert on the Union lawn, ASUU has sought to make this Redfest a week-long celebration. Vangeison said this year’s fall concert will include a fair and other activities.

On Aug. 13, after ASUU announced headliner B.o.B., the artist posted on his Facebook page asking students to get tickets, using #uofustudents.

Twenty-five-year-old Georgia native B.o.B., or Bobby Ray Simmons Jr., is known for his songs “Nothin’ On You” and “Magic.” Vic Mensa will also perform at Redfest.

Coming from humble beginnings, B.o.B has expanded his catalog of songs to include personal struggles and relationship experience. Vangeison said this variety of subject matter in his songs makes B.o.B. the perfect choice for Redfest.

Samin Mirfakhrai, an incoming freshman, is looking forward to attending the concert. She is a fan of B.o.B. but would love for ASUU to host Lorde for a concert in the future.

Vangeison also said ASUU put a lot of time into organizing the event this year.

“All of the hard work is so that the students can be entertained and enjoy themselves,” she said. “The event is getting bigger every year.”

U students can get one free ticket starting Aug. 25 at the Union front desk. Students and the public can purchase additional tickets for $15 through Smith’s Tix on Sept. 2.

The doors to the concert open at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 19.
