Crimson Nights to be ‘Out of This World’

The Union will transform tonight from a student study lounge with books and binders into a student party zone with dancing and DJs.
The Union Programming Council is hosting Crimson Nights on Friday, featuring White Panda, a band formed by two friends living in Los Angeles and Chicago that started in 2009.
The theme for the party is “out of this world.” They will have dancing, laser tag, inflatables and free food at the event, which is free for U students.
Hans Harris, a sophomore and a director for Crimson Nights, said the event features different activities to appeal to all students.
“We want to make a social event,” Harris said.
Harris said his UPC team spent all summer planning this event for students and once they’re done with it, they’ll move on to the next one.
The funding for this event is provided by the Union.
“Their mission is to provide free opportunities for University of Utah students to get involved,” Harris said.
Ashley Newhall, a senior in strategic communication, said Crimson Nights is a fun way for students to get involved.
“Its a great way to kick-off the new school year besides football,” she said.
Newhall has been to every Crimson Nights since her freshman year. She said her favorite part is the dancing.
“It’s a fun way to socialize with people without talking and meet new people in big dance circles,” she said.
Crimson Nights was started in 2003. Now UPC holds the event four times each school year.
