Meet the Two Candidates Who Applied for ASUU President

Meet+the+Two+Candidates+Who+Applied+for+ASUU+President

The filing deadline to run for ASUU president has passed, and two candidates are in the running.

Leading the ONE party is presidential contender Jared Seachris. His ticket includes Callie Smith, running for vice president of student relations, and Christina Ripley, for vice president of university relations.

Jack Bender heads the second party, Students Leading Change (S.L.C.). The group includes Jessica Patterson, for vice president of student relations, and Matt Miller, for vice president of university relations.

This is the first year there are two vice president positions instead of one. Elections previously included a senior class president candidate, which will be incorporated into the Campus Events Board next year.

“We are excited to have such an impressive group of candidates this year and cannot wait to see what new ideas they all bring to the table,” said ASUU Elections Registrar Chase Lindsey.

All executive candidates, including the two applicants for attorney general — Brennan Degen and Sawyer Gordon — an independent position unconnected with either party, have their first orientation meeting this month. Campaigning begins Feb. 16.
