If you’re looking to buy an Apple product, you might want to stop by the Campus Store next week.
On Tuesday, Nov. 17, the University Campus Store and Health Sciences Store will host their annual Apple sale day.
The MacBook pro 13-inch and previous generation iMacs will have an eight percent discount. All iPods and iPads — excluding the new iPad pro — will also be marked down. The sale is available to all faculty and staff, said Cameron Beck, marketing manager of the Campus Store.
“It just goes to show that we and Apple appreciate them,” Beck said. “It’s easy to see Apple, one of the largest companies in the world, with big dollar signs in their eyes. Same with the Campus Store.”
The Campus Store has hosted this event since 2006, but the past two years have been slightly different. Apple day previously meant no taxes, but last July legislature approved the store’s decision to sell all their computers tax-free every day.
Beck said this event brings in about 1,000 customers. On a typical day, the store might see anywhere from 100 to 150 people.
Derek Walton, a senior in political science and Campus Store employee, said they will be double-staffed and have extra registers to prepare for the day.
“It’s huge. We have more Apple sales that day than we do in a few months’ time,” Walton said.
Walton said a lot of students and faculty do not realize the great sales they have access to. By taking off taxes, they can save $100 to $200 every day. With the additional sale day, faculty and staff can knock off a total of $350.
The U and Apple have had a long partnership, as this university was the first school to sell Apple products on campus, Beck said. There are few schools around the country that host an Apple sale day.
The U also offers a pay-away plan for faculty and staff to purchase items through their paychecks over time. Apple will also host a bounce-back day on Dec. 8 to teach people how to better use their new iMacs, iPads and MacBooks.
