I was at a wedding recently when I met an older gentleman who asked me what I do. When I told him that I work for the Daily Utah Chronicle he was excited to tell me that he would read the Chronicle every day of his college career. Part of your experience at the U should include getting your news from the Chronicle. Here you may find what is happening on campus, as well as what your fellow students are doing in the field of research, technology and innovation.
The Chronicle has been the campus and community news since the 1890s. Older even than Utah’s statehood. It is a time-honored tradition, a place where students get their daily news and feel a part of the U community. Recently, as with all of the changes in today’s media, the Chronicle went from being printed daily as a newspaper to a weekly, but still providing daily content online.
Over the course of your time here at the U, you will learn about various U traditions, student associations, and become a part of the U family. One of those long-standing traditions is reading your student-run newspaper. Whether you are an engineering major or a business major, there is something for everyone, either on our website or printed weekly in our paper.
The U is a great place to learn and gain experiences in your chosen field. As you sit through orientation and learn about the different ways to be involved, think also of joining student media. We have a variety of ways to be involved, from writing to editing, radio to video, marketing and event planning.
You are not experiencing campus life if you’re not getting your daily dose of the Chronicle. Visit our U Student Media table at orientation to pick up some free swag and find out how you can be involved in the student media experience on campus. Also you can find our paper on stands around campus, daily news updates online at https://dailyutahchronicle.comhronicle.com and download our The Buzz: University of Utah app on any android or iPhone.
