The University of Utah Volleyball team started off their weekend in Los Angeles, California with an outstanding match against USC on Wednesday, Nov. 21. The victory came with a sweep in three sets.

Outside hitter Dani Drews had one of her best matches yet this season. She set the program record for the most kills in a three-set match with 22, hitting .429 with only four errors. Drews had six kills in the first set and eight kills in the last two.

Setter Bailey Choy also had a great match. Of the team’s nine aces against the Trojans, Choy had six and she also completed yet another double-double with 29 assists and 11 digs.

Utah started off the first set strong, taking a 5-0 run to go up 10-7. Holding the lead, they eventually went on another run, this time of 3-0 to close out the first set at 25-19.

The Utes carried their momentum into the second set, starting off with a 3-0 run. They’d lead 8-6, before closing out the second set 25-21.

By the third set the Utes were ready to finish off the match. Utah pushed for that win by starting off the match with a 7-2 lead. Utah finished off the match quickly at 25-18.

Utah is now 17-13 overall and 9-10 in Pac-12 play. The Utes will now go on to play their last regular season match this Friday, Nov. 23 at 12 p.m. against the University of Colorado.

Colorado is heading into the match winning their last three games played. Colorado is currently 18-12 overall and 10-9 in Pac-12 play. The Utes are 12-8 all-time against Colorado and lost their last match earlier this season in five sets.

The Utes will be celebrating their Senior Day during the match, where the team will be honoring outside hitter Lauga Gauta and middle blocker Berkeley Oblad.

Students are allowed free entry for themselves and four guests for all home volleyball games. Students will need to present valid student ID at the door of the Huntsman center for entry. All seating is general admission. The match against Colorado this Friday will be live streamed on the Pac-12 website, along with live stats provided at www.UtahUtes.com.
