The Utah Arts Festival will take place June 19-22 at Library Square in downtown Salt Lake City.
Summer in Utah is the perfect time for a variety of activities. With people out and about much more, it makes sense that it’s the right time for events to come through. Naturally, some larger events crop up during the season of sun, and when it comes to those, none can match the excitement and thrill of the Utah Arts Festival.
Called “The Great Utah Get-Together” by the official organizers, the Utah Arts Festival is exactly what it sounds like: a festival dedicated to art in all shapes and forms. Over the course of four days, viewers can see the wide variety of shapes that art takes. There will be everything from music to dance to literary presentations. With so many options, it might be difficult to plan out a visit to the Utah Arts Festival, so let’s go over some of the highlight attractions and some hidden gems.
Live music
Firstly, and perhaps the main appeal, is the live music performances. The headliners for the festival are Leftover Salmon, Robert Randolph, Souls of Mischief and MV Caldera. With each of them performing at the end of each day of the festival, and with their acclaimed standing in the musical world, they are sure to be a hit.
Of course, there are also local artists that will be opening for the headliners, such as Theoretical Blonde, Sister Wives, DJ Rent EM Spoons, House of Lewis and Flamingo. While those are the highlights, many more musicians with a variety of styles will be attending. Performances will take place each day of the festival, so make sure to stop by and give them some support.
Artist marketplace
Aside from the music, there are even more things to engage with. Firstly, there is an artist marketplace full of local art ready to be bought and brought home. With 175 artists, you’ll be sure to find something you love. Next, there will be performing arts going on throughout the festival, such as dance, theater and films. Naturally, all of these will be done by local artists.
There are also literary workshops that cover a variety of skills and subjects for writing and the Kids Art Yard, a place for children to come and express themselves in a fun and constructive way. Lastly, there are enough food vendors to keep the hunger away while trying to find the next art exhibit to look at.
Get tickets
The festival requires tickets to enter, which are available right now on their website. Children under 12 get in for free, and there are group deals that are only available online. The entire schedule of the festival can also be found on the website, so if you’re looking to plan out a fun weekend of art, then it is the first place to check. The app is also recommended. So please, consider the Utah Arts Festival for your next family outing, date or personal adventure.
