Muslim students collect food for needy

The MSAUU is participating in the Muslims United Against Hunger food drive for Utah's needy, which started last month during the holy month of Ramadan. During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn until sunset, so they are able to focus more time on prayer and purifying their lives through self-restraint and good deeds.

New noise ordinance would affect greeks

The council discussed at its last meeting a proposed ordinance, which amends an existing statute, that would impose fines on the hosts of parties to which the police have to respond. The fines are up to $300 per visit and criminal prosecution could follow if the behavior continues.

Campus weather alert gives delayed notification

Students were concerned about the sudden storm weather, which included lightning, that began around 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Services for Salt Lake City. But U students did not receive notifications through e-mail, telephone or text message from the U Emergency Program until about 2:30 p.m. The emergency e-mails and texts informed students to expect the storm to reach campus, but gallons of rain and cracks of lightning were already at the U.
