After participating in the inaugural Utah Collegiate Shootout held in St. George last weekend, where the Utes finished fifth out of six, the Utah golf team leaves today for Hawaii to participate in the second annual Kauai Collegiate Invitational.

A week after ending an eight-year winless streak, the U men's golf team cracked the top 10 for the third week in a row after finishing sixth at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate.

For the first time under head coach Randall McCracken, the Utah men's golf team took first place at a tournament.

After finishing in a tie for 15th at New Mexico's William H. Tucker Intercollegiate a week ago, the men's golf team responded in a big way during the weekend, finishing second at the 41st USAFA Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational.

The Utes struggled in their first tournament of the year this past weekend, finishing tied for 15th out of the 17 teams participating in the 2009 William H. Tucker Intercollegiate Tournament.

The Utah men's golf team kicks off its season this weekend when it travels to New Mexico to take part in the 55th annual William H. Tucker Intercollegiate Tournament. The Utes are excited to put last season8212;in which they finished last in the Mountain West Conference

The Utes kick off their fall schedule a week from today when they travel to Albuquerque, N.M., to take part in the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate Tournament, hosted by the University of New Mexico. The tournament will be held at the Championship Golf Course at UNM, a course that from the tips plays 7,324 yards long.

Coming off a season coach Randall McCracken described as "disappointing," the U men's golf team will look to rebound in 2009-2010 from when the team finished last at the conference championship.

It was another shaky weekend for the Utah golf team, which tied for 14th place at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M.

Golf is a sport that requires natural athletic ability, patience and a good attitude. The Utes' lone senior golfer, Chance Cota, has all three.
