Despite a loss to No. 1 Georgia on Monday, Utah is as much in the hunt for a national championship as it was before the meet started.

Following Friday's parade celebrating the Utah football team's 13-0 season and BCS-busting Sugar Bowl victory Jan. 2, thousands of Utah fans turned Washington Square into a sea of red, tossing fistfuls of sugar and chanting, "We're number one!"

The Utes, who trained about 40 hours a week while they were in Mexico, swam two back-to-back meets on Jan. 9 and 10 against Texas Christian and Northern Texas, before facing conference foes Colorado State and New Mexico on Thursday and Saturday.

Hours after Utah announced wide receivers coach Aaron Roderick and running backs coach Dave Schramm would be co-offensive coordinators, Schramm was named the offensive coordinator and Roderick was ancient history.

The 13-0 Utah football team was honored at halftime. It must have been good karma for the Runnin' Utes, who are now tied with TCU atop the Mountain West Conference at 3-1 after running Colorado State out of the Huntsman Center, 82-66.

In the end, Utah faltered on beam and Georgia cleaned up on floor and the defending National Champions edged Utah 197.150 to 196.725.

Roderick, who was rumored to being courted by Washington, announced later on Saturday, that he was indeed joining the Huskies' coaching staff as the wide receivers coach. This was after an official press release and several news stories announced his co-coordinator position at Utah.

Co-coordinators. That's the direction the U football team's offense has taken as Whittingham promoted both Andy Roderick and Dave Schramm to the post for next season.
