Young fan meets Salgado: Dream comes true for striving photographer

A dream came true for Kiley Hart, a 17-year-old aspiring photographer from Los Angeles, when she met her idol and inspiration, Sebastio Salgado, on Thursday afternoon. Hart, a high school senior, met Salgado before his compelling performance in "An Evening of Conscience" at Kingsbury Hall.

Bowling for (a few) dollars: Utes will see gains from Emerald Bowl, although not too many monetary ones

It may not be the Fiesta Bowl, but San Francisco is where the U football team will find itself at year's end, as the Utes try to cap off an up-and-down season on a winning note. While the hype surrounding this year's bowl game is modest, to say the least, compared with last season's pomp and circumstance, Ute players and coaches expect the Emerald Bowl to bring plenty of rewards.

Whew! Runnin’ Utes beat USU in down-to-the-wire epic

The Runnin' Utes exorcised their demons Wednesday night, beating Utah State a year after losing to their in-state rivals by 26 in Logan. But for a split second, it looked like the Utes (4-0) were going to fall again to the Aggies (2-2). All the emotion in the Huntsman Center and clutch shooting was about to go for naught, because USU sharpshooter Jaycee Carroll found himself open from 18 feet with the Utes clinging to a one-point lead with only seconds remaining.

Campaigning in residence halls causes less disturbance than last year

The only campaign presence the Associated Students of the University of Utah has had near the residence halls thus far this year was not even a campaign. The Students First Party held a shindig for its members on Feb. 4 in a house on Officer's Circle. The gathering had nothing to do with recruitment.

Baseball looks to enter the win column

MWC to try instant replay in football

The Mountain West Conference may not be able to be like the Big Ten in all facets, but the MWC will follow in the bigger conference's footsteps in one aspect this fall. Pending a formal approval by the NCAA on Feb. 24, the MWC will institute instant replay for all football games next fall.
