Football notes: Season not over yet

By By Cody Brunner November 27, 2007
Licking the wounds In a game that will likely go down in the history of the rivalry as "Fourth-and-18," the Utes had every chance to win it late against rival BYU. But they didn't. The Utah offense struggled to get anything past BYU's smothering defense, scoring its only touchdown late in the fourth quarter and finishing the game with 244 total yards.

Marathon man: Preparing for the winter months

November 27, 2007
Editor's Note: This is a recurring feature of the Activities section. Tony Pizza began training Sept. 15 for the 2008 Salt Lake City Marathon and will be writing updates on his successes and failures until the April 19, 2008, race date. The holiday season can be brutal on the bank account.

Voices: Service is a cornerstone of greek life

By By Timmy Cannon November 26, 2007
It has been a good semester for just about everyone on Greek Row. In the last couple of weeks, some houses have had successful philanthropy weeks, and some of the pledges have finished their quest to become active members of their respective fraternities or sororities.

Letter: Hiding in glass closets

November 5, 2007
Editor: Another Republican moron has come out of his glass closet after a career in politics spent talking about family values and voting against bills that granted civil rights protection to gay couples. Way to go, Rep. Curtis! Denial is not a river in Africa, you hypocrite! No wonder the Northwest is a bastion of liberalism -- Republicans can only get elected in the most dismal, desperate and desolate parts of the country.

Home sweet home

By By Jade Gray November 8, 2006
With possible tuition increases on the horizon, students are looking to decrease their costs as much as possible, especially those who are paying non-resident tuition. However, the U is attempting to make that a little easier by providing students with the option of receiving in-state tuition after 60 credit hours are completed.

Don’t rest in peace

My Chemical Romance The Black Parade Reprise Records Four out of five stars Looking back, I can pinpoint some of the memorable moments during the dozen or so parades I attended as a child. I remember the amateur marching bands, the flag corps (or the color guard, whichever you prefer) and the way I would do anything to catch an insignificant piece of candy tossed from one of the overly decorated floats.

Karma sucks

Boyskout Another Life Three Ring Records Three and a half out of five Who likes girl bands? Who likes girl bands whose members make out with each other in their first "mainstream" music video? Who likes girl bands that offer more than just cheap thrills (such as making out with each other)? Who likes Boy Scouts, axe circles and the clove hitch? Who likes art/indie/grrrl rock band Boyskout? Another Life, Boyskout's sophomore release, delivers a compelling, albeit simplistic, 45 minutes of moody, moody music.
