I’m glad to see that Attorney General Mark Shurtleff is speaking out on the illegal immigration issue (“Shurtleff tackles immigration, guns,” Jan. 16).
The failure of our federal government to enforce the borders and current immigration law is costing you and me and the citizens of every state where the illegal influx is significant a lot of tax dollars. In fact, some states, such as California, are going bankrupt over this failure. This puts an extraordinary burden on law enforcement officials in these states, including our own. Ultimately, it will create a huge peasant class in our society that will never go away-due to the greed of big business.
I would gladly pay more for goods and services if I could be sure that my children and grandchildren could enjoy the kind of culture that we had prior to the influx of these illegal immigrants.
