The young duo of Zach Ganger and Miron Mann has been chosen to represent the U in doubles at the 2005 NCAA championships.
“Zach and Miron are excited to be here, and I think they deserve to be here,” U head coach F.D. Robbins said. “They had a great year.”
Ganger, a freshman, and Mann, a sophomore, have taken the doubles circuit by storm. The pair has a 22-4 record and are ranked 34th in the Utah Tennis Association collegiate rankings.
They will face Georgia Tech’s Marko Rajevac and David North on Thursday in the first round.
“All of the teams in this bracket are tough, but we feel good about their chances to do something in this tournament,” Robbins said.
The tournament takes place Thursday through Monday on the campus of Texas A&M.
U tennis will also be represented when the ITA inducts its 2005 Hall of Fame class at the NCAA championships.
Jim Osborne, an All-American at the U from 1965-1967, is one of six new members entering the ITA Hall. Following college, Osborne was ranked among the top 10 players in the country and won a bronze medal at the 1968 Olympics.
