While I think ASUU President Jake Kirkham’s heart is in the right place, it would be detrimental to many to demand proof of health insurance in order to be a student. I understand the vaccination policy, but health insurance? Come on. If my husband were a student here he wouldn’t be admitted under a hard-waiver policy because he doesn’t believe in Western medicine and wouldn’t go to a hospital unless it was catastrophic. I have medical insurance and feel it’s important for everyone to have, but people shouldn’t be compelled to subscribe and pay for something they may not want in order to obtain education.
