Preseason e-mail to swimmers

August 1, 2007

Dear Ute Swimmers and Divers,

Utah Swimming is dedicated to providing opportunity and encouragement for all of its student athletes to make an uncompromised commitment to the pursuit of excellence, through the process of striving to be the best they can be, both in the classroom and in the pool, to acquire life enhancing attributes such as integrity, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

I hope this finds you enjoying the last flirting moments of summer. I trust that as you read this you are continuing to prepare for the season ahead of us. As August 20th rapidly approaches the plan for our 2007-2008 campaign has already begun. There are many changes on the horizon. We will talk about the changes and new expectations in the weeks to come.

In this brief passage you will find the following:

-Walk on try out dates-Compliance meetings-Team meetings-Meet schedule-2007-08 important dates to know-Things you will need for practice

ALL WALK ON ATHLETES

All non scholarship athletes will tryout for the University of Utah Varsity Team. Tryouts will be 45 minutes in length and involve all of the following: a challenge set, technique assessment, a standardized questionnaire, a brief essay and a physical fitness evaluation. Those wishing to walk-on to the 2007-2008 Ute Swimming squad must email Head Coach Greg Winslow, no later than August 17, 2007 at [email protected] Once the email has been received the perspective student athlete will be assigned a 45 minute appointment and receive a receipt of the scheduled time via email. The tryout will be administered by the U of U coaching staff and will not have more than four PSA’s in the water at one time. The appointment will be held during normal practice hours, either, morning or afternoon, the 20th, 21st, or 22nd of August 2007. All athletes trying out for the U of U varsity Swim Teams will be contacted by 8:00pm Wednesday August 22nd. All PSA’s will be contacted by phone to either extend an invitation to join the 2007 campaign or to thank the athlete for their time, interest and support of Utah Swimming.

All athletes invited to be apart of the 2007-2008 U of U Swimming and Diving teams will have a mandatory compliance meeting Friday August 24th in East HPER room 206 at 2:00pm.
