Anyone who has read any of my previous men's basketball columns should know that I am a fan of head coach Jim Boylen and the Runnin' Utes. However, when talking about if the team has a legitimate shot at winning the regular season Mountain West Conference Championship, I have to tell the fan in me that is screaming, "Yes, yes, yes," to be quiet and face the facts.

The Utah women's basketball team improved its winning streak to three with a 66-50 overtime win over Idaho State on Wednesday night.

Freshmen aren't usually known for making big impacts on whatever team they are playing for, especially in college, when freshmen seasons are often spent catching up to the speed of college ball and improving skills.

The Holy War 2009 is finally upon us. Another chapter of the rivalry will be written in two short days. Even though there is nothing more at stake than a rivalry win, the game promises to be exciting as always.

As five seniors prepare for their last season at Utah, the program has signed six new gymnasts to fill their places on the roster in 2011.

First, I am appalled and slightly concerned that we are having a quarterback debate at this point in the season. It can never be a good thing if coaches are questioning the quarterback eight games in and with the likes of TCU and BYU on the horizon. However, given the Wyoming game, it's something that has to be considered.

Overtime isn't something the Utes are familiar with.

The BCS should've been disbanded a long time ago and college football, like the rest of the competitive world, should be working on a playoff-style system.

The phrase has become commonplace in Rice Eccles Stadium but is something Utah fans won't hear for the rest of the season.

Coming into this season, most Utah fans were skeptical about how productive the Utah offense could be. After all, the Utes have a new and inexperienced (at the Division-I level anyway) quarterback running the show and a new offensive coordinator calling the shots.
