NCAA, Pac-10 powers among non-conference foes for women’s basketball

The U women's basketball team recently released its non-conference schedule for the upcoming season. The team will face tough competition from the get-go, as its first six games will be against teams that played in the NCAA tournament last season. The Utes will kick off the season with home games against Jackson State, which won its conference championship last season, and Louisville, which danced all the way to the Sweet 16 a year ago.

Enderson goes for perfect record

Lauren Endersen is working hard to keep her streak alive-a streak of nine years with a perfect GPA. Endersen, a senior in biology, is hoping to finish out her undergraduate degree with a 4.0 GPA, which she has maintained since junior high school. Not only has she managed to get straight A's, but she has also worked hard to build an impressive track and field record.

Volleyball looks forward to new season

Now that spring practices are behind, the U women's volleyball team is focusing on strength training and conditioning as it looks forward to the upcoming season. With several changes in the works, there is a lot for the team to look forward to. Nationally recognized blocker Emillie Toone will be making her return to the starting lineup after redshirting last season becauseof a knee injury.

Joshua Irvine is busy. After all, he is a full time student, a volunteer tutor, a soccer coach and a mentor for a college success program at East High School. Last week, U women soccer players had a hard time deciding for which player to cheer as Shaylyn Kennedy of Murray High School and Kellie Woodfield from Timpview High School faced each other in the 4-A girls basketball quarterfinals. U students help in fight against poverty

The ONE Campaign hosted its first student summit in Washington, D.C., where students discussed and learned ways to end world poverty and the spread of preventable diseases such as AIDS. The three-day conference that began Jan. 2 hosted more than 120 students from around the nation, including KereAna Buchanan, a U senior majoring in biology and the U's ONE chapter leader.
