Utah football fans are spoiled with a plethora of exciting travel options during the 2025 season. This article will provide a rundown of highlights and must-see venues at each of the six road locations where the Utes will play.
With the Big 12 landscape fully in cycle, fans will be welcomed to familiar and unfamiliar locations. From 40 miles to 1,800 miles, and everything in between, here are the pros and cons of each regular-season destination for Utes enthusiasts.
UCLA: Aug. 30
The U will open its season at one of the most historic venues in college football. Rose Bowl Stadium is home to the intimate setting that football fans know and love. While there is a major difference between attending the Rose Bowl game on New Year’s Day and a regular-season matchup, the beautiful weather and scenery that Pasadena brings never disappoints. Vacations to this event will be tricky to book this close to the game, but with UCLA now playing in the Big Ten, there’s no guarantee the Utes will be back.
Wyoming: Sept. 13
Utah plays its final non-conference game of the season in Laramie, Wyoming. Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium is the smallest stadium that the Utes will play in this season. At just under a 6-hour drive from Salt Lake City, the 29,181-capacity stadium is well within reach for fans looking to make a quick and easy weekend road trip.
West Virginia: Sept. 27
Home of the Monongahela River and country roads, Morgantown, West Virginia, has top-notch scenery when it comes to college towns. Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium provides a similar feel to Rice-Eccles Stadium on campus. The 60,000-seat venue is surrounded by beautiful nature and a lively college atmosphere. While the Mountaineers’ expectations for the 2025 season aren’t exactly through the roof, a trip in the mountain state could be a one-of-a-kind experience, especially while the leaves are changing.
BYU: Oct. 18
Far and away, the closest opposing stadium on the list is LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah. At about an hour-long drive, Utes fans will undoubtedly be making the trek down south to cheer on their team in enemy territory. Provo isn’t much of a vacation spot, but the proximity to campus makes it a more than reachable destination.
Baylor: Nov. 15
Utah is heading back to McLane Stadium this season after leaving with a victory in 2023. The Bears’ stadium is situated on the Brazos River, allowing fans to cross a bridge en route to their gates. Waco, Texas, is home to blazing heat, great food and unique wildlife. Thanks to a late-season matchup in November, the heat won’t be an issue, but the cuisine and wildlife will be out in full force. Be on the lookout for cheap flights to attend what could shape up to be an instant classic between two of the conference’s top competitors.
Kansas: Nov. 28
Kansas will play host to the Utes on Black Friday to close out the regular season. David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium will be the new home of the Jayhawks beginning in 2025, and Utah will be the seventh road team to visit after renovations. Thanksgiving weekend is often a tricky time to travel, but a Friday night game may make it easier to book flights to Lawrence and its surrounding areas.
Between these stadiums, Ute fans have all sorts of travelling options this football season. Whether it’s near or far, new or historic, or anything else, Utah fans can’t go wrong with any of the locations listed above.
