After a stressful week of midterms, spring break is finally here. Some people will be traveling around the world, while others will be staying in Utah. For those opting for a staycation, here are some fun ideas to enjoy without leaving town:
A Weekend in Park City
Park City, Utah is home to the Sundance Film Festival, Park Silly Market and Deer Valley Resort. It is located half an hour from Salt Lake City. It is the perfect place for a staycation during spring break.
For a snowy getaway, grab equipment and hit the slopes on the best snow in Utah either at Park City Mountain Resort or Deer Valley Resort. The fluffy snow and exciting terrains make for a skiing experience like no other. Both resorts offer terrains for beginning skiers to advanced, allowing everyone to enjoy the thrill.
One day of skiing is not enough. The Deer Valley Resort offers amazing rooms with excellent amenities for guests. Book a room, grab a delicious dinner at a nearby restaurant and relax by the cozy before another thrilling day of skiing.
However, skiing is not for everyone. Luckily, Park City offers much more.
Multitask with Snowga — a combination of snowshoeing and yoga. The unforgettable experience is located at the Mid Mountain Trailhead. Snowga is a three-hour event in a winter wonderland. Be sure to wear warm clothes to remain comfortable. The Snowga package includes anything that participants may need: snowshoes, poles, hot beverages, yoga mats and an instructor.
After Snowga, dress up in mountain casual and head to Historic Park City — known as Main Street. The street is home to excellent restaurants, including Purple Sage, Courchevel Bistro, Annex Burger and more. After dining, take some time to explore the various shops available. Be sure to check out the events page for information on potential events going on.
Keeping it in Salt Lake City
Looking to keep it local? SLC is home to hundreds of exciting activities to participate in during the break.
As the weather warms up, the hiking trails begin to attract more visitors once again. Utah is home to some of the best hikes in the country with its grand mountains, and many trailheads are right up the canyons.
The Bonneville Shoreline Trail offers a beautiful hike, with a gorgeous destination and journey. The trail follows the Bonneville bench, formed by the ancient lake. Though the trail is nearly 100 miles long, hikers can stop at any point, making it beginner-friendly.
Looking for a more challenging hike? Mt. Olympus is the way to go. The trip is 6.9 miles long, and soars 4,087 feet above the ground. The journey is difficult and will take some time, but the view is rewarding.
After hiking, head to Dolcetti Gelato on the 9th and 9th. Their gelato is top-tier, with 40 different flavors to choose from. The menu also features pastries, coffee and espresso. And to make the experience even better, the atmosphere of the shop is extraordinary. Extravagant chandeliers hang above unique picture frames on a pink wall. Customers can sit on fun couches or at small tables.
After grabbing some delicious gelato, take a stroll down 9th and 9th. Explore the shops and boutiques along the street. The ambiance is lively and young, making for the perfect evening of fun to wrap up the SLC staycation.
