Editor:
I was very disturbed by Tiffin Brough?s Sept. 12 letter, “Be Wary of Bush?s Retaliatory Actions,” expressing her (granted) first reactions to yesterday?s horrific catastrophe.
Make no mistake, war was declared against our country in the most incomprehensibly horrific attack ever in our nation’s history.
For Brough to rely on a knee jerk, stereotypical impression to describe our country?s president as a “rash … Texan” and “corporal [and] unopposed” is irresponsible. It is also highly offensive to the thousands of probable deaths that happened mere hours before she wrote those words.
For our nation to be more concerned about politically correct notions of “rash? retaliation,” and the “American capitalist psyche” is not what is going to help our nation overcome and heal.
Who can imagine what our country will go through, and become, in the next weeks, months and years?
If our country cannot unite and support our leaders in light of Tuesday?s attacks, then we certainly have more to fear than terrorism itself.
